An evening at MacRitchie
Went there for dinner yesterday. It didn't rain in TPY, but it obvious did at Machritchie. The 2 pics below were out of focus, but I was trying to capture the cooling scene of water droplets on the flowers.
A view from high grounds, on our way to the restaurant.
After dinner, we went walking along the submerged broad walk.
It's about 40m long
It's shallow, just for the feet
The 2 of them spotted fishes
Looking hard for the fishes. I think won't work. Firstly they don't have food, secondly, there a "cat" on her, hahah...
Wk spotted a turtle in the reservoir.
Our rhymes
The bridal shop at TPY central closed down, and the new shop taking over is renovating. It's probably a shop selling food, esp french fries, cos the advertisement on the reno partition says "yellow yellow, cheesy fellow". Lynn spotted it first, so proves that this is a catchy phrase.
One night, I passed by again, and a thought come to me. I went home and told Lynn that's she's a "pinky pinky, naughty kitty". She laughed, and she tried out some phrases. She pointed to my top, and asked me what colour it was, which I told her maroon colour. She didn't get any nice phrase with that colour. Then she looked at my jeans, and finally got one that says "blue-y blue-y, stinky piggy", referring to me!
So here's our rhyme:
"Yellow yellow, cheesy fellow! Pinky pinky, naughty kitty! Blue-y blue-y, stinky piggy!"

Wind in the hair
The family went for a yacht trip on the first Sunday of the March school holidays. Winny's the organiser; she has a good write up and nice pics, which I'm going to refer to here: http://aquariusstoria.blogspot.sg/2013/03/a-weekend-sail-with-trillion-star-yacht.html
I enjoyed it greatly, and will like to bring my family too. Here's some pic selection from my iPhone.
1) Marina at Keppel Bay, where we board our yacht. This was my second time at here, the first was for dinner at the Japanese restaurant.
2) The family heading towards the yacht.
3) We set off after the safety talk. We were at the front deck and here's some fun pic of wind in our hair..
4) This pic if taken from inside the yacht (cabin). Sometimes I'm embarrassed by her disruptive actions, but yet I do not want to snuff out her curiosity and playfulness.
5) Here's a pic of the whole yacht (took this pic when we stopped at Island Seringat). It's a very comfortable size yacht for 11 pax (it's maximum capacity).
6) Walking to the beach on this deserted island.
7) On this beach, at first I thought these were just ordinary grass. But when they hurt my feet, then I realised that they are mini cactus.
8) Not a very nice beach; lots of seaweed washed ashore. But the kids had fun playing sand.
9) Some of us walked to the rock barrier to have a higher view
10) Juin caught a crab
He showed it to the kids, then he let it go
11) Finally here's a pic of Chloe celebrating her birthday that night in the cabin, with 2 birthday cakes!

Walking to school with Erin and Faith
Two of the girls from the family of 5 kids next door study at the same school as Lynn. Erin is P5, and Faith is P2.
Erin came to our door the day before school start (in Jan), and asked if we would like her to take Lynn to school in the morning. However, she goes to school very early (645); I never ask her why, I just assume she has duties to perform. So we take Lynn there ourselves, at about 705.
Last week was school holidays, and Lynn had to be in school from 8 to 10 for chinese speech and drama class. On Thurs, we meet Erin and Faith outside our homes, going to school too. When we reach ground floor, Lynn wanted to follow follow them. So I let her do so, telling Erin to help take care of her.
I went to get the car from the car park. The path that I drive to work (my work place is at TPY Lor1) is the same path that the girls will walk to school. I caught up with them when they were about 100m from the school gate. I slowed down, stopped at the road side momentarily and whipped out my handphone. I tailed them for a while, stopped again and took this pic of them when they were almost reaching the school gate. Lynn's on the left of Erin and Faith's on the right.
It's a very simple and stright forward event, but I just can't describe the magical feelings when I watch, with anticipation and worry, of Lynn walking away from me to go to school without me...

2 rows of teeth
About more than 1 month back, I was shocked to find that Lynn's adult tooth was growing behind her baby tooth. I didn't know that this can happen, so I was very kan-cheong. We wanted to book her a dentist appointment, but subsequently got the school dentist to check her. The dentist suggested that we wait, as the baby may loosen, and she gave instruction to Lynn to shake her baby tooth often. Her consideration was that if the tooth could loosen by itself, then she didn't need to subject Lynn to injection and extraction.
I didn't manage to get a pic of Lynn with her 2 rows of teeth, so here's a pic from the internet. Her's look quite similar, except that one adult tooth was growing faster and taller, and another adult tooth was just erupting. We did some research on the internet, and got to know that this phenomenal is also known as "shark teeth".
Subsequently, the dentist checked Lynn almost weekly, and we had a few more rounds of contact and discussions with her. Whenever I shake her baby teeth, I always exclaim that they were "solid like rock!". Finally, I went with Lynn to see the dentist on the Thursday after her performance. The dentist finally decided that it's time for Lynn to have both front baby teeth extracted. She explained that then Lynn didn't need to inject and extract twice.
WK's mum brought Lynn to the school on Fri afternoon for the extraction. The dentist advised that it is better for P1 kids to be accompanied by adult, to monitor the bleeding, and to stop the children from biting or pinching their numb lips.
I asked Lynn about the experience when I got home at night, and was told that it's not painful at all. Either the dentist's skills is good, or Lynn has high pain threshold. Finally I got a pic of her the next morning (Sat); it's amazing how fast kids recover - the holes were much smaller compare to Friday.
And the dentist actually gave us the teeth that was extracted. Last Friday they were quite white (today they look yellowed). I'm going to keep them as long as possible. What an interesting experience and learning for mummy-me.
Mini performance
WK, myself and MIL attended the mini performance by all P1, at Lynn's school hall on the last Thursday afternoon of term 1. It was a simple performance, with some costume, and no props. Actually I'm not impress at all, and I wonder what's the purpose of this event. This event could have been a new experience for the kids IF they have not done so at pre-school. However most kids nowadays go to pre-school that deliver high standard performance, so this one totally pale in comparison. Here's some pic:
Before the performance, a pic of parents, and grand-parents seated in the school hall. The school hall is not air conditioned, so it's quite stuffy.
The kids were seated at both sides of the hall. I found Lynn to be at the front row (in pink T-shirt).
WK made time for this event.
The first show was by the Malay students. They sang a Malay song, about animals. I enjoyed this.
This is Lynn's class, singing "Planting rice is never fun":
Lynn's at the corner of the 2nd row:
I think this pic is the finale, when the kids at both sides of the hall sang "Kheng Cheng Light of mine". I like this song, sounds nice and a simple song that kids will be able to identify with. The performance lasted an hour.
