When I started the whatsapp chat group, one of the first few questions that Lili asked was the dress code, and if we need to wear a gown for the dinner. I was very glad she asked, because I wanted to dress up for dinner. After going through a few ssuggestions from Ginny, I picked a western food restaurant call The Clan. I was a bit disappointed that the website stated that causal dresscode, but we still dressed up.
I went shopping on both days of the previous weekend. Despite a few options, I just couldn't pick out "the one". Luckily I did not simply buy the best out of the lot, cos I finally found one that I like at BYSI on Monday. It is a black and gold long party/dinner dress, that only cost $35. It has a dressed up yet not over the top look.
After our evening tea at the lobby at Shangri-la, we went back to our room to change and to doll up. I drove them in my car to The Clan restaurant for our dinner at 8.
The Clan is a mid range western restaurant that serve 5 course meal. The good that night was great and so was the service. I have only done fine dinning once many many years ago, and I think this can be considered my 2nd time. We were there for about 3 hours; we were the last table to leave at close to 11.
As mentioned before the gals pulled a stunt on me. At the restaurant, they gave me my real birthday present, which is a necklace cum with pendent from SK. When they presented me the gift, I think I reacted quite calmly. They were quite worried that I don't like the design. I was quite speechless than, cos I thought that the stunt was quite silly. Then as for the design, it is a safe one, so I don't dislike it, but there is no "wow" either. Finally when I found my words, I told them that I am really touched by their efforts and that I will definitely wear the necklace.
During breakfast the next day, we chatted about our character, and our job. I think I mentioned to them that I can be quite a control freak who likes to plan just in case things doesn't go the way I want. I am very very happy that I spend my 40th birthday with my girlfriends. I am very happy that we did some of my favourite activities on my special day.
Finally, almost 2 months after my birthday, here are my wishes for myself: may my days be filled with happiness, and my thoughts be that of gratitude and grace.

when I saw this title on my blog's preview, I quickly clicked the link hoping to view your gorgeous look with a gown on.....but.....but.... you never take a full picture of yourself with your gown!!
Its alright 表嫂，although its small but still can see the beautiful pendant. :)
