马年新步伐

Happy CNY!

It felt like I had been galloping non-stop for the past 2 months, until today, when I'm finally beaten by a flu bug that left sick for the whole of CNY holiday.  It started on Wed evening, with a terrible sore throat, that soon developed into a fever.  I felt it coming strong, so I quickly rushed to the GP to replenish the lozenges.  When I went to bed at 9 after taking 2 fever pills, I knew that my CNY eve plans will have to be modified.

Anyway, I will write more about my 4 days CNY (including eve) in a later post.  Today is D4 (Monday); a day when I get to wind down my extremely busy holidays season, with an afternoon visit to the same GP for cough syrup and some time to blog.

I must have a few hundreds of photos to post, and lots to write about.  Won't accompalish much today, so I will just start with some CNY home photos.

This year, we were not expecting any visitors.  Neverthless, I still decorate the house for CNY.  This year's 银柳 was placed behind the day-bed chair, thus giving the whole living room a different look from the previous years.

This year in the office, we DIY lots of decos, and this is one of the items I learned to make, from a crafts book belonging to one of my new colleague.

When I showed my colleagues the beaded accessories made by WK's mum, the exclaimed that she's very talented, so I took a few of her items to the office (fish, lantern, pig) to sell and generated $60 of sales for her!

This is again new this year!  The craze started off with a few colleagues buying hyacinth from Ikea during lunch.  They try to delay the growth by not watering them and not exposing them to light.  I told them it's useless.  Any way, the the plants bloomed, and they were beautiful and fragrant.  So finally on a Sunday (19th), I bought 2 stalks from Far East Floral, and this was how they looked.
They started to flower in less than a week, and this was how they looked on the 25th (Sat).
The one in the middle was my number 4 buy, purchased on the 25th from Lorong 1 market, as WK's mum wanted a red one.  The tall one on the right was one of the orginal purchase.
On Monday (27th) when I went back to office after the weekend, my 3rd buy (from Ikea on the 21st Tues) was fully bloomed, and it was a beautiful dark pink.

I took it home on Tues, 28th, and this was all 4 plants at different stages for bloom and decline.
My last purchase turned out to be light pink.  It started opening last Tues (the pic below), and it is still looking quite beautiful today.

Finally, this is also new this year.  It's a bunch of 桃花 that I bought on the 28th.  It is still not opening yet, which WK's mum said "不懂会不会元宵才开"
