Back to CNY!
My CNY break starts on Wed, which is the eve of the eve. My company's shutdown on the eve (Thurs), but most people took another day off on Wed. So on Wed, there were only 4 of us from my department of 13 who turned up for work. My boss, who was on leave too, was nice to allow us to "OTOT" (own-time-own-target). The 4 of us went for lunch at Ikea (was supposed to be my treat to them, but I forgot to bring my wallet out, so Surin treated us instead), and they went off from there. I left at 2pm.
Went to meet some friends at Suntec in the afternoon. In the evening when I was heading home, it suddenly occured to me that I'm experiencing the onset of a bad fever. Whenever I fall ill, it's almost the same sequence. Firstly, I will get a sore throat. Then I will feel "shaking", ie fever. Then running nose may or may not be next. Finally in the 3rd day or so, a cough will develop.
I was suppose to do final marketing on Wed night, in case some of the shops were closed on Thursday. Of course I didn't make it. That night, I stock up on lozenges, ate 2 in the span of 3 hours, took 2 fever pills and went to bed early.
On Thursday morning, I was still drowsy that I forgot that Lynn still has school (short hours) that day. After WK sent her to school, I asked WK to accompany me to complete my purchases. True enough, I discovered that Old Chang Kee was closed for CNY already. So intead of fried fishball and sausage, I bought fresh ones from NTUC.
That day, I survived by downing another 2 rounds of fever pills and a few lozenges.
In the afternoon, I cooked and strung the fishball, otah fishcake and sausage (boiled or toasted) on satay sticks, cooked the 冬粉虾 and went to my uncle's place for swim (Lynn and aunty Cindy only), BBQ and potluck reunion dinner.
I didn't take much photos of the gathering, I guess because my energy level was low.
That night, other than the events stated above, Aunt Cindy also organised games (Bingo, with real money pool) and a belated birthday celebration for WS and I. She ordered a cake that says "happy belated BD", ha! She had gift packs done for me and WS. Come to think of it, I should say a big thank you to her for her efforts and thoughts. But that night, I was not able to appreciate much that's going on, as I was tired. Well, I must say, it is also because of the late comers that cause the event to stretch to 9pm. This goes to show that punctuality is indeed a virtue.
In her gift packs, there were a few old photos of me and WS when we were young. Here's a classic one, dated 1992, when she was 8 and I was 18.
A different venue this year, for yet another CNY reunion dinner, for the same old people of the extended Lim family. So the wish for "many happy returns" is not only for birthdays, but for festivals and gatherings too!
**MANY HAPPY RETURNS**

I'm also experiencing the same sequence of sickness that you've described, and it seem like almost every time ended with cough where it was not when I was younger. The most scary part to me is the coughing, which can last very long if not taken care of. I recently tried out the remedy of warm honey with lemon, which helps a lot. Now I try to drink it every early morning, and whenever I have sore throat. Honey contains anti-bacteria substance, while lemon is high in vitamin C and anti-viral, the drink is powerful against flu, cold and cough.
Do try it out :)
Thanks for the recommendation! Honey lemon sounds delicious; I may try it.
