This is one of the rare occasion where during a biz trip I extended to visit a place of interest in China. During my Chengdu trip in April, we went 九寨沟 for 3 days. I was happy on this trip, because it was with a group that I felt very comfortable with (Thooiling, Alice, Siew Ching and Maggie).
九寨沟 is touted to have different kind of views in different sessions. For example, in it's peak session in autum, the whole place will be fill with red/orange leaves. In Winter, the waterfall be frozen. Both views are spectacular. In summary, it is suppose of be full of water and flowers. So I guess we went there during the super off-peak, which is mid-spring.
In spring, the ponds and river are starting to fill up with water, so we still get to see the 五彩池, but not as awesome as summary. We get to see greens, but not much flowers. The thing that we did not expect but experienced was snowing. Apperently, it snowed heavily on Thursday, so when we reached on Friday, on our way to and at 黄龙 (the highest point at 九寨沟), we get a lot of snow scenary. Then on Saturday morning, it snowed while we were at 九寨沟.
Here's a selectio of photos.
The snow mountain scene on our way to 黄龙

五彩池 at 黄龙. Only blue colour as there's not much greenary yet. If there's more plants, the pond will have colours like purple and dark green.
