[Drafted in the cab on Wed night on my way home from Changi airport, and completed on Thurs morning. Scheduled for posting on next Monday.] Nothing very special about this trip to blog about; just one of my super compact (get the work done and get out of there) biz trip. Took only about 10 pics. Here they are:
Have been to Shanghai a few times. The last time I went I was at 淮海road area (near the Band). For this biz trip, I'm at 徐家匯area. Took the Sunday 1230noon flight out of Singapore; was in the cab on the way to the hotel at about 8pm when we saw this (dunno what) building that has this spectacular lighting display. On one hand, it looks really awesome. On the other hand, it's pure waste of energy and terribly ungreen:
Room service on Sunday night. Usually biz trips' full of entertainment, ie lunch and dinner with unfarmiliar people. So I actually like room service - hide in the room and my own world. The salmon's good:
Some pic of the Shanghai finance office and the design centre.
Full of plants:
Out door mini gym at the design centre:
Lastly, at the airport, Alice took me to KFC for milk tea, which she like a lot. I'm a milk tea person too, and I like it too. She took the cold one, I took the hot one. The pearl's quite good too:

Lynn update 3
So this is going to be the last post that I write for today (15 Aug, Sat), and this will be scheduled for posting on next Sunday, when we come back from Redang.
I'm always making myself very tired when there is school or public holiday. On hari raya, we took Lynn to bishan park to learn how to ride the bike. 2 Sat ago (at the start of term 3 holidays), we brought her to Sentosa for bike and swim. Last Sun (end of term 3 holidays), we took her to Sentosa again, for the same activities. Here are some pics of my darling's fun filled childhood.
(I) Bishan Park on Hari Raya (Aug):
The first time we went Sentosa, I only took this one pic. We choose to go in mid afternoon, thinking of doing evening activity, but it didn't work out well (very hot).
On the following Sunday, we went in the morning. The weather that day was great, so they biked, then swam. I went for a jog. We all had a great time; we really like Sentosa.

Lynn update 2
There's a lot of discussion on education system year in year out. Now that Lynn's 6, we are now part of the system. I'm getting to understand why there's so much interest in this topic - it's really a challenge to provide the best form of education for your children.
Recently, there's a few issues with Lynn's childcare. Firstly, the school suddenly decided to stop the Abacus enrichment class from Oct onwards. Lynn had taken the Abacus class since the start of K1 and the result's quite encouraging. We wouldn't let her continue outside school, cos it's troublesome. It's such a distrubing turn of event.
Secondly, the school has got problem getting a new Chinese teacher after they terminated the previous one in mid of Term 3. All the chinese teachers in the past were from PRCs. I understand that it is the norm today (unlike our time), that almost all chinese teachers employed in the education system are chinese nationals. However, there's a lot of problems with them (atitude, credentials, etc). Again, I'm very disappointed with the way the childcare handle the situation. Nowadays, I try to teach her some chinese myself.
Anyway, here's some not so serious stuff. Lynn goes for chinese speech-and-drama class on Sat mornings. Her class is on level 3. All the parents bring the kids to the doorstep of the classroom (we do that too). There was this day about one month back, that I asked her to get out of the car by herself, go up the lobby by herself, and go to the class on level 3 by herself, while I watch her go into the stairway in my car (I was driving). When I drove off, I was worried, so I drove to the carpark 2 blocks away from the school and walked back to the school to check. I got to the class and saw her shoes outside the classroom, then I left.
(Scheduled for Sat. Sun, sea and sand!!!)

Lynn update 1
Lynn's not good at art, most of her own drawings are kind of ugly (those that look nice are highly edited by teacher), but she enjoys and doodles a lot. Recently, there's one that I like a lot, so I asked if she can give it to me for me to bring it to office. Now it is displayed at my office cubicle.
Can you see what it says on the label?
(The label says: Artist Lynnette Yap 叶祾 ; Title Dawn 早上; Medium Marker. She copies the format from her art class)
(Schedule for Friday. At Redang!!)

Pic update (4) - Biz trip to 无锡 Aug 2012
So far I had been flying once a month. Last month (Aug) to 无锡 this month to Shanghai.
I didn't go around exploring. I only have pics of the hotel and the restuarants that we visited. One of them is a hello-kitty-theme cafe, which was so pinkish. The other one is a Western food place. We went for the Western food on 七夕节, which is valentine's day in China. They served as complimentary rose champaign (5 glasses for 5 of us), presentated in a very nice way.
View from my hotel room.
The room's very spacious and comfortable (bed, working area, bathroom etc, all very nice)
I like the grand looking deco in the lobby:
Olive restuarant (servers Western food). Again, love the deco and presentation:
Hello-kitty theme restuarant. We were curious, so we went. Food's lousy, deco so-so.
(Scheduled to publish on Wed - Hoo hoo!! I should be on the plane right now, from Shanghai back to Singapore, home sweet home!)

Pic update (2) - Hamster family
Here's some pics of the hamsters. These are the 3 cages for the 5 hamsters. Below pictures are taken during the Hari Raya weekend, when I invited my new colleagues to our home for a gatherting/potluck. So I dresssed Lynn up. She took pic with all her 5 hamsters, but they look all the same in the pics.
Here's 2 pic of the fishes. Currently there are 4 little fish tanks in all.
(Schedule to publish on Monday night. End of first biz meeting day in Shanghai, maybe in Biz dinner now.. )
