P1 (mommy's) class excursion

[Finally, the last of Aug posting/event]

This is definitely an event that must be blogged.  One day in early Aug, we signed a consent form for her to go to a class excursion to the museum.  It was to take place on 30 Aug.  About a week later, Lynn told me that Teacher says that parent can come along.  I just said "hmmm..", meaning I heard her.  I was wondering what is the reason for allowing the parents to go along, and was considering if I should go when she said "Mummy, can you come with us please??"  Although I was suspicious, I didn't want to decline her request, so I quite reluctantly said yes.

The following week, I got a call from Mdm Ong, her form Teachers.  She said "Hi Mrs Yap, I heard from Lynnette that you agree to be a parent volunteer to help out in our class excursion to the Museum?"  I was stunned momentarily, but of course got to reply "Err.. yes.. that's correct...."  So as I suspected, it is Lynn who miscommunicated.  I asked Mdm Ong what I'm supposed to do, and she said that I will just need to follow at the back of the class to ensure that no one goes astray from the group.

On the day itself I reached the school general office at 9am, and waited anxiously for half a hour before the class appeared.  I was very worried that I'm the only volunteer, but luckily for me, there's another parent.

The bus journey was the most fun part.  The noise was deafening, as the kids were super excited about their first P1 excursion (I'm sure they all had excursions when they were in childcare/kindergarten, but this is their first after quite a long break).

I got to sit with Lynn

Needless to say, the kids didn't sit still.  Mdm Ong got to keep repeating and threatening (and to raise her voice above the noise level) every 2 mintues.  A job that takes lots of patience.

They all love the tunnel

At the Museum, the kids were told to obey rules (no talking, tiptoe, no touching of glass display, etc).

Here we go.

And here's just a few pics I managed to snap along the way.

Well, museum is not that suitable or fun for P1 kids.  I guess we have to start somewhere and sometime in exposing them to these kind of "boring stuff".  Mummy-me is not a museum person too :))

Anyway, the visit is over in less than an hour.  I think Mdm Ong (and the 2 parent volunteers) were keen to get out of there.

On the way back, Mdm Ong came to chat with me.  She told me that "Peranakan Meseum" is part of the recommended P1 excursion program by MOE.  She thinks that P1 kids should go for excursion to the Zoo instead.  I really think she's a very nice and caring teacher.

She talked about Lynn's partner in class (again).  Told me again that Remus is a very talkative boy.  This time round she added 2 more information, which actually confirmed what I all along suspected.  Firstly, she said that Remus, despite being talkative, is actually a very smart boy (like Lynn, cos Mdm Ong always say that Lynn's very smart).   Secondly, she comment that "they had lots of fun together".  Ha!  I kept teasing Lynn about that ever since..
