Looking back at my previous postings, it was in July 2011, when Juin moved out and took some of our furniture for his new home that I did some improvements to Lynn's room and the living room. Back then, I was very happy and proud of the new arrangement. Before that (2007 - 2011), it was quite messy because there were no proper and not enough storage space for 2 adults (Juin and WK's mum) and 2 kids (Mabel and Lynn). Thus, I wrote about the new changes in these 2 postings in July 2011:

The pictures below of Lynn's "old room", taken last week (on 1st Jan) has similarities compared to the pictures in the above postings in Jul 2011, because this set of furniture and the way they were set up were used for 4.5 years.
In the pictures below, there is a brown 4 layer chest cabinet, that belonged to Lynn. She puts her toys, her stationery, handicrafts, and all kinds of other (kiddy) stuff in these drawers, and would take those stuff out to play with her cousins (in her room) when they come. I like this cabinet, because it is cheap, hardy, and the mechanism works very smoothly after so many years. During this renovation, I wanted to discard many pieces of furnitures, but I wanted to keep this. It was quite amusing how Lynn reacted to the news about I'm going to move this cabinet to the living room. I knew that she loves all the "rubbish" in this cabinet, so I reassure her that we will temporary move this cabinet to my mum's room, then we will relocate all the stuff in the cabinet back into the new built-in cupboards in her room. Unexpectedly, she got upset, and wanted this cabinet to stay in her room! She actually grew fond of this cabinet, not just the things in it! In my heart, I felt very good because I realised that I did a good job with the improvement back then. Not only Lynn, but WK's mum is also happy with the furniture.
Here's some pictures of the room before the renovation.
Lynn put up this sign not too long ago. It says "Please knock"... Prelude to the teenage years..
4 pieces of mismatch furnitures, that served their functions very well in the past 4 years. I wanted to give away or discard all except the brown 4 drawer cabinet. In the end, Juin took the pink Ikea table, and I found good use for the black 8-compartment open cabinet and the triangle side table in my mum's room!
So, I took 4 pictures of the content, to illustrate the kind of "rubbish" that's all Lynn's treasure!
1st drawer... can't really describe what's in here..
2nd drawer, toys mainly
3rd drawer, ha! contains a top secret box!!
4th drawer, fanciful stationery
This is the other side of the room. The Marie decal are still pretty, clean and in good condition. A pity that they have to give way to a hanging cabinet.
And these are all still featured in the new room!
So this's just documenting the "before". It is worth documenting because I love the old room too.
