I'm impressed by how 故宫 museum have a section for children. It is well designed with interactive stations, hands on activities, model exhibits that can touch (and smell) and a cartoon show, to attract the interest of children while learning history. I did not take a lot of photos; there are much more than what I'm showing here.
Evolution of words:
Built-it-yourself, to learn about ancient architecture and design.
We spent 3 hours there, viewing various exhibits. We were getting tired after 2 levels (there are 3 in all), because of the crowd. So we took Lynn to see the famous "cabbage" on L3. However, there's a queue just to see it, which we didn't want to join, so we can only point it out to her from far.
It was freezing cold for me and Lynn in the evening at Shilin market. We bought toys as souvenirs for her cousins. And we finally found candy floss, which is one of her top items on her "must achieve" list for Taipei trip!
On day 6 morning, we bought evening movie tickets at XiMengDing. We told Lynn that maybe we can hear James Bond speak Mandarin...
We reached RuiFang station before noon.
For lunch, Daddy and Mummy ate Oyster Mee Suan while Lynn ate "economic rice". She picked black chicken feet!!!
Finally on our way, by cab, to 九份。 Was told by the cab driver on our way down the story behind the name. Once upon a time at the beginning, this place had only 9 families. They will send a representative down to the city to buy nine sets of supplies. Thus the place where this representative came from is known as "nine sets".
I didn't like the movie Spirited Away, as I feel the girl's fear and terror, and I don't understand if it's just a dream, or it's a super natural experience. Unlike the dark theme portrayed in the movie, the food/shop alley at 九份 is actually a very crowded and vibrant place for tourists.
Time to head back to city. Train stations tend to have a very nostalgic feel..
Wefies...
Doing some shopping before the movie start. At 5pm, it was "winter-dark", in a freezing Taipei...
At the start of the movie, Lynn said "James Bond 没有讲华语hor!" Ha!
We checked out close to noon time on Day 7. Anyone who wants recommendation for hotel at Ximengding for 2A1K, I highly recommend Midtown Richardson Family Quadruple room. Meant for 4 (but will be very squeeze for 4), it is less than 100m from exit of Ximengding station.
This trip, I only bought a hairband and a leather cuff for myself. The happiest purchase I did was Lynn's backpack. It's white-colour based, hopefully Lynn will take good care.
Korea skiing Dec 2016, anyone?
